Computational Structural Analysis

About This Project

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) observed that the roof of an inspection room (21.5 x 24′) was being utilized for storage at SRKL Die Casting. An analysis was requested to assess the maximum loading capacity of the roof. A detailed model was generated using Computer Aided Design software and subsequently a Finite Element Analysis (FEA) was performed. Results indicate that the roof can withstand a total of 6 tons of material uniformly distributed, with a maximum concentrated load in a 4 x 4′ pallet area of 1,500 lbs along the edges of the structure
